DATAPATCH_ROLE

Hi in going over current CIS security recommendation it came up that a new role, DATAPATCH_ROLE, should have read on DBA_REGISTRY view revoked from the DATAPATCH_ROLE. Before doing that I wanted to understand more about this role, how it is used (I suspect it has to do with the newer datapatch tool used in patching but I need to no more about this and the consequence of revoking the READ rights before proceeding. I was hoping someone in the Oracle Community could give me more details. There seems to be nothing on MOS or the documentation.
