FNDWRR - format is not the same as extension - Sorry can't open two excel docs - any solutions?

I've seen that we can make registry edits, or use an unsupported browser (firefox, pre java deprecation update).  There's not really ever been a good solution, and this has been the case for years.  I always just hear it's a bug on Microsoft's side.

I get weird looks from people when they know we're using a "Financial Application" and it can't open reports correctly in Excel...

Is there any useful, legitimate, non-workaround, actual solutions to how incredibly cumbersome it is to view Excel output from Oracle E-Business Suite?
