One Legal Entity in Multiple Operating Units

There is a proposal at our organization to where we would wind up with one legal entity operating out of two operating units.  Business case is that we want to structure our operating unit in a logical work execution grouping but from a legal entity perspective, we are composed of many merged acquisitions not ready to merge.

Any insight from anyone structured in this manner or thoughts on Projects impacts? Thanks in advance.
