xstore upgrade from v7.x to v17.x - Question

Hi,

During the upgrade from xstore v7.x to v17.x, does v7.x xstore pos integrate with v17.x xoffice? Shouldn't there be two xoffice (v7.x and v17.x) so that stores that are yet to be upgraded v17.x can connect to v7.x. Because stores upgrade will be spanning for weeks considering large number of stores.

What is the recommendation from Oracle and other implementers on this?
