Updating RDD without submitting a revision order

Note: A resolution for both the versions of the application mentioned above is expected.

Problem Statement:

I submit an order with future requested delivery date. The order component is configured without any processing duration. So, the calculatedStartDate of the component is calculated same as the requested delivery date and the component does not start processing. Now, at some point of time, I want to revise the requested delivery date to current date, such that the calculateStartDate also gets revised and the component starts processing. I am able to achieve this by placing a revision order with current date, so the requested delivery date in the base order is revised to current date and the calculatedStartDate is
