Milestones Progress Status Name

Milestone progress status name sometimes shows "Closed" in the reports, though it shows "Not Started" or "Completed" in the progress status in the schedule plan. What is the meaning of "Closed" status name for milestones in the report? and is there a field that reads from the milestones "Progress Status" from the plan directly?
