Smart HR - Grade Entry Date problem

I'm just starting to work with Smart HR Templates. I created a small, simple, template using the delivered JOB_INFO_REPORTING section, the template transaction type is Change Job Data, and deselected Auto Database Changes (I want to always send it to HR).

In my test environment I logged in as a manager, added a transaction to change someone's Reports To position_nbr. Then I logged in as an HR administrator, went to Manage Transactions, and applied the change.

The result: Everything on the new job row looks fine, except the employee's Grade Entry Date was updated to the new EffDt on this row. This is not right - the Grade Entry Date should have rolled forward from the previous job row like everything else did. Does anyone have an idea what I did wrong? Is this a configuration error or something else I'm missing?
