how to update /etc/rpc via package manifest

edited Mar 7, 2019 9:48AM in Oracle Solaris System Administration (MOSC) 2 commentsAnswered ✓

Has anyone an example of how to define a service in /etc/rpc  i.e., to "add" a few lines to /etc/rpc via a package (man -s 7 pkg) please ?

The rpc file is in pkg:/system/core-os :

root@antar:~# pkg search /etc/rpc

INDEX      ACTION VALUE   PACKAGE

path       file   etc/rpc pkg:/system/core-os@11.4-11.4.5.0.1.3.0

Now suppose I want to write a package that adds a few lines/entries to /etc/rpc.

The "overlay=allow' and "preserve=true" indicates (I think) that "overlay' is possible

root@antar:~# pkg contents -m pkg:/system/core-os | grep 'etc/rpc '

file acb44e3ad6ea363a496f50aeedc37e379c374e49 chash=e1d0684e86218a7ccb0c0f810789c375d68e151d group=sys mode=0644

Howdy, Stranger!
