Is there a way to run the Model Report from a Concurrent Request?

Occasionally when running the Configurator Model Report it will timeout.  No good reason.  Then a few minutes later it will work fine.  Is there a way to run the Model Report using a concurrent request?  My understand is that XML Publisher is used.  We have used XML Publisher to product other PDF documents using concurrent request.
