R12.1.3 to R12.2.8 upgrade - no change in appearance

So we currently run R12.1.3 on RHEL and I just stepped through the upgrade doing an in place upgrade on a Test system.

So I primarily followed Oracle E-Business Suite Upgrade Guide Release 12.0 and 12.1 to 12.2 Part Number E73540-05.

To summarize I ran a bunch of scripts, applied a bunch of patches and decided for this proof of concept to ignore some of the stuff like rewriting materialized views and fixing various other objects at the end and would address them in more detail next go around as I really just wanted to see that at the end I could launch the upgraded environment.
