SFA Opportunities when I change Sales Methodology or Sales Cycle the Close Date is recalculated but

Is there a way to setup SFA Opportunities so the Close Date doesn't refresh automatically when changing the Sales Methodology or Sales Cycle? When we override the Close Date we want that retained regardless of changes to Methodology or Sales Cycle.
