What happens when sga_target and memory_target are both set?

Hello, DBAs

This is CRS 12.2.0.2 on Oracle Linux 7.4, running RAC 12.1.0.2 and 12.2.0.2. I've been trying to find a note or document that describes what happens when parameters for both AMM (memory_target) and ASMM (sga_target/pga_aggregate_target) are set. Does one supersede the other? Which type of memory management takes precedence in this scenario?

I've been using ASMM for ASM and my own databases, and have enabled and configured Huge Pages. I can't explain clearly to my fellow DBA why it's one or the other, since she's left both values set and the database seems fine.
