Regular reindexing activity

Hello,

I was originally SQL server dba where scheduled reindexing job was one of the first maintenance job to be set up on new instance. I did reasearch and found out that many people don't care about this activity in Oracle or even more not recommend it at all as not worth of effort.

Is it really the case ? What is your thought about such mainetenance activity ? Are there any good sources to look at ?
