exadata or dbass patching without root access

Regarding Exadata and DBASS patching, all documents says to run as root . THis is causing us SOD violation as DBA won't have root access to major systems. What's alternative ? Does sudo to specific commands work ? WHat's list https://docs.cloud.oracle.com/iaas/Content/Database/Tasks/exapatching.htm
