What is the difference between RMAN Backup-based duplication with and without a target connection?
Hi Everyone,
I want to know the difference between the following two modes of RMAN duplicate:
Backup-based duplication without a target connection
Backup-based duplication with a target connection
Apart from the fact that the 'without target connection' can be done if there is some firewall restriction, is there any other reason that this mode should be preferred over the 'with connection' mode?
Is there any performance overhead on the target (source) database if we do a 'RMAN Backup based duplication with target connection' ?
We use SBT Tapes in our setup for daily backups and RMAN recovery catalogue. Our database version is 11.2.0.3.0.
