Is there a way to merge multiple CIP assets into one depreciable asset

Our business users have been manually adding up the cost of CIP assets, cost adjust all but one to zero, then change the cost on the remaining asset to the total of all identified CIP assets, then change the category to a depreciable asset category.  Isn't there an automated process to do this?
