Enrollment certification not carried forward

Hello - After processing an initial life event, an enrolled plan is suspended and an interim enrollment is assigned as expected. The certification is left pending and the due date has been reached.

But when a subsequent life event is processed after the above certification due date is crossed, the suspended plan is being end dated and the interim plan becomes Active. But we want the interim and suspended plans to get carried forward. This functionality is working fine if we process the subsequent life event prior to the certification due date. Is there a way to have the certificates carried forward even after the due date?
