Treatment of capitalisation of assets

We have a scenario like this. The modules in scope are Property manager and fixed assets. Client is engaged in construction of real estate assets and then letting out the property for lease or outright sale.

How do you track the work in progress in the cost of the asset. At what point of time will the asset be capitalized and how can it be recorded in Fixed assets module. Is there an integration possible from fixed assets module to Property manager. Or should the asset be created separately in Property manager module.
