Changing the application owner in PBCS

We have need to change the application owner in our PBCS production and POD environment.  What is the best approach in doing so and what is the risk if any to change it to another user id?

Ideally, I would like to have this be an admin and not a specific individual/person, but a generic userid that our team would manage/own.

Please advise on the best approach
