Using Express Capitalization, is it possible to stop capitalizing costs for certain activities?

Hi:

Version info: 9.2.19, PeopleTools 8.54 and upgrading to PUM 30, PeopleTools 8.57 this year.

We have just configured Project Costing for Express Capitalization and some of our asset accountants have asked this question: is it possible to stop capitalizing costs for certain activities?

They reach a point where they no longer want project-related costs to be capitalized, but they still want the costs associated with the project. I proposed creating a separate activity to capture the costs to be expensed but that didn't go over very well. Is there another way or do we just need to capture the expenses in a separate activity?
