ALERT : Upgrading to 18.3 Can Automatically Result in ADVM Processes Consuming Excessive CPU and IO

See the ALERT 2525427.1 for complete information:

Changes with ACFS and ADVM can result in very poor performance immediately after an upgrade to 18.1 or higher

The problem source has been identified in

Bug 29520544 - AFTER 18.3 UPGRADE ADVM PROCESSES ARE CONSUMING HIGH CPU/IO FOR A LONG TIME

Upgrade to 18c can cause unnecessary disk resilvering on ODA (and any other system with > 1MB AUs).

The larger the ADVM volume size the higher the impact.
In particular the ODA X5-2 which uses 8T HDDs can have a significant performance impact.

  • Once started the resilvering can not be postponed or disabled.
  • Once the resilvering completes, performance will return to normal.

Howdy, Stranger!
