How to get item to recognize base pricing for complex item group

I am working on options for using base pricing (F4106) in pricing items.  If I setup a complex item group price in base pricing, how do I get the item to recognize the group price?  Will this work when I also have an item that's in the group setup in base pricing, but the price has expired?

- I have established the price group

- I have regenerated the item price group

- The effective dates for the item group pricing are greater than the last effective dates for the item.

Result right now is, when I put this item on a Sales Order, it tells me "No Base Price in Effect".
