Smartview from Sharepoint

Hi,

When I download a spreadsheet that has a smartview connection (to an Hyperion planning task list) from sharepoint and hit refresh, nothing happens. Whereas if I save it to my desktop and then open and refresh it works. Is this expected behaviour or is there a way to fix this? My users want to be able to directly open and refresh without having to save it.
