Remove CRLF from one field during an FDM import

greetings,
We are on 11.1.2.2
We extract journal entries from PeopleSoft into a .csv file to import into FDM.
We noticed around 200+ records contain a carriage return & line feed on one of the fields, for every month.
I created an event script in FDM to remove these characters, which is not working. It seems I may need to clean up the file prior to the import.
Any suggestions on how to accomplish removing these extraneous characters, prior to the import and within FDM? Many thanks, and thank you,
