my goal is to update the system, or as an example a specific package 'ipfilter' to the latest release (11.3 -> 11.4)
I want to know why this is not possible.

$ pkg update ipfilter

No updates available for this image.

$ pkg update -nv

Creating Plan (Package planning:  49/941): -

pkg update: Chain was rooted in an untrusted self-signed certificate.

The package involved is pkg://solaris/consolidation/ddt/ddt-incorporation@19.1.19.1.10,11.4-11.4.6.0.1.2.0:20190119T014138Z

my way to update:

$ pkg list entire

$ pkg publisher
