SmartView runs 15 minute calc export, but excel hangs waiting for completion after it has already fi

We have an issue with a work book that has some basic VB, where by the vb button runs an Essbase calc script that exports a data file (this takes around 15 minutes to complete), then when completed the VB opens the exported file in EXCEL.

Now this has been working fine up untill recently, where the calc script now takes much longer than it used to due to data growth (I have no baseline but suspect this was around 10 minutes to complete when it worked).

Now when the Export calc script completes and the file is ready, excel just sits waiting but never gets to the point where it is aware the export is completed, so simply eventually times out when it hits the internet explorer time outs which are set to 2 hours and not the issue.
