How to burst files in groups

We currently have a report that outputs several letters of different types. We are currently bursting these into individual PDF files for archiving and display purposes. The printing vendor however requires the PDF files to be in one consolidated PDF file instead of individual ones.

I was wondering if there is a way to create another bursting definition that would somehow group the letters by type and output them into 1 PDF per group.

Consider the following:

LETTER1 - Type A

LETTER2 - Type A

LETTER3 - Type B

LETTER4 - Type B

Normally we would burst these into 4 PDF files, one for each letter. For printing though, we would want the report to output only two files - one for Type A, and another for Type B. The file for Type A should have two letters inside LETTER1, and LETTER2.
