what is the difference between active duplicate and active data guard?

HI

I am looking at RMAN DUPLICATE to restore our db to a DR ready machine (standby not required, but nice if possible)

I then see that RMAN ACTIVE DUPLICATE can do duplication as well

What is  the difference between ACTIVE DUPLICATE and ACTIVE DATAGUARD? I know that DG will just copy across redo, while DUPLICATE will copy across backupsets......how else are they different?

I cannot find information about this on line - does anyone ask this type of question or am I being dumb?

Thanks
