BOM Creation and IB relationships and OM Shipment

All - Is there any good document around IB relationship creation for a tree structure item.

CSI: BOM Explosion = Yes and Level = 3.

Basically need help with steps to make sure I'm following the right process:

1.) Created Items with IB trackable flag = Yes. Serial Number Flag = At Receipt.

2.) Created a BOM:

                              Item A

                                   Item B

                                            Item C

                                            Item D

3,) So, If I do a Misc Receipt it will create the IB instance for each of the 4 items - A, B, C and D.

4.) At this time, I created a sales order and shipped out the TOP LEVEL ITEM A. The shipping line was closed but I don't see the relationship in IB i.e.
