How is it possible for the "log file sync" to be much higher in latency time (4ms) vs. the LGWR late

Greetings,                                                                                                                                      

  

In an AWR report for an hour period in the daytime, I see that “log file sync” has an average latency of 4ms while the LGWR has an average latency of 1.68ms.

  

 

Is LGWR's only job to write log buffers to log file which is a "log file sync"?
