Is creating a new mount point on Exadata allowed?

We would like to build a /u02 filesystem for another Oracle Home,  In the past , Oracle Support stated that modifications such as applying RPM's to engineered systems were not supported, We want to ensure that creating a new filesystem is allowed and supported by Oracle.
