Custom Print - When Printing does it use all data in the BP or just from the form you are on?

When printing a custom print, does it pull from all data within the BP record or does it only have access the data within the form your are on?  For example if I have a data element that appears only in the create step, but I am currently on a step farther down the workflow where the data element is not on the form, will the custom print be able to access the data element that was in the create step, or does the data element have to appear on the form for the step I am on for it to show up in the custom print?
