If you change the DISK RECOVERY PATH IN ASMCA, does it change SPFILE permanently?

If you are in ASMCA to add disks, but you need to change the DISCOVERY PATH to find the new disks, does it permanently change the ASM_DISKSTRING parameter in ASM or is that a SCOPE=MEMORY change only?
