Has anyone successfully made W-2s available to employees using the ESS Portal?

Management wants to add W-2s to the ESS portal instead of paying for a 3rd party site each year.  I have not seen W-2s on the ESS Portal before and I'm wondering what it takes to make this happen.  Seems like a custom app is needed since I cannot find a W-2 inquiry besides the one on the Year End workbench.  Any help or guidance is appreciated.
