11GR2- ASM drop disk from diskgroup

Hello,

We have a production database running in 11GR2 RAC .       We have 5 disks in diskgroup DATA.     These disks were presented to ASM  using multipath.     Disk5 was recently added and due to some issue , the header is not updated correctly.

We are not having any issues as the disks are correctly show in ASM

However, our unix admin , wants the header to be consistent as other 4 headers.   To rectify it , we need drop the disk and recreate /format it at unix level .    My question is , what is the safe way to drop a disk without affecting data.

Diskgroup size  :  1250 GB

Disk size -- 250 GB each
