Record Duration Status - How is this utilized?

In V 18.8.4.3 we are seeing a new field in our BPs that is called "Record Duration Status".

Question:  How is this calculated or configured within the BP and what exactly is the purpose?

Question 2:  Is this new field being displayed by default when upgrading to 18.8.4.3?  If we don't want to display this we'd have to update all BP configurations immediately after upgrading our PROD to 18.8.4.3 to not display this field?  Or is there something we can do prior to upgrading to not be forced to display this field?
