Invoice only the amount of shipped lines in an Oracle EBS KIT

We're using Oracle EBS 12.1.3.  We have a need to sell groups of items.  These aren't configurable.  It's usually just a box which contains several books.  For the sake of this question, let's say it's two books that are shrink-wrapped together.  We could create a finished good or a KIT and a BOM with BookA and BookB with a quantity of 1 each.  Sometimes we're out of one of those books so we substitute or even just partial ship the one book.  Let's say the top level item is a kit and we partial ship the just one of the
