How to expire Equipment Message Logs (P1205)

Is there a way to expire equipment messages?

There is through date field inquiry screen but when we put a future date and click find it gets updated.  (refer attached screenshots)

Is there any way we can expire the messages or keep a log of it against the equipment?

Am I missing something?
