Picking Request/Confirmation without stock

¿How the system handle picking requests that don't have enough stock to supply an order line?   We need to be able to start the picking process in spite of not having enough stock to prepare the entire order or order lines.

The stock will eventually arrive through a putaway request, so ¿Can this putaway request be generated to supply an order previously requested in a picking request?   Any thoughts about this scenario?
