How to optimize Batch, Actions and Functions for better performance ?

Experts need your inputs as to what is the logic for creating Batch, Actions and Functions in OPPM, what are the means to effectively use this ?, why does the system have multiple actions on a single trigger ?

Why can't there be a single action > Analyse and Process the output; instead of analyzing multiple times for different actions and process multiple times the functions ?
