JDE Fixed Assets - Using unit number as primary due to CAM

We are in the process of setting up CAM and they are requesting that we change the fixed asset default to have the unit number be the primary number versus the next number that JDE assigns.

Has anyone done this and if so were there any adverse impact to finance as far as fixed assets and how those reports ran or how the GL was updated?
