Equivalent function to the old journal comments

We used to be able to add journal comments to an inventory lot (pre R12), and in 12.1.3 for managing expired, rejected and returned items users are creating spreadsheet recording their comments and then repeating the same exercise each time they have to update the list. Just wondering if there is a way in the system to record the notes against the lot.
