Is there some record of Oracle Client versions maintained?

We have hundreds of client machines connecting, with varying versions of Oracle.  While we can easily track our database versions identifying which client is running obsolete versions is an issue.  We don;t want to block them without knowing the impact so looking for some way to identify the client versions.  I've looked at listener logs but not there.  Any ideas?
