Why are there boxes or extra verbiage around IB data when you paste it outside of EBS?

Lately when I copy a value from an Install Base screen, such as an instance_id or a serial number, and then paste it into an email to a user, 1 of 2 things might happen:

1.  I'll find that I have pasted all sorts of unwanted verbiage, such as "Installed Base Search" before the ID I intended to paste.

--or --

2.  The ID or SN pastes with about 3 boxes drawn around it.

Does anyone know how to turn this annoying behavior off?
