lost disk on standby with no ASM mirroring - is it recoverable from primary without full re-create o

I have a very large (35TB) standby database in AWS.  A disk was lost and there was no OS RAID and ASM was set up with external redundancy.  I've already re-created the full standby because I needed to move it into another VPC anyhow - but it took a very long time and it was suggested to me that I might have been able to recover just what was lost on the failed disk - is that possible when using ASM?  I want to know if this happens again in the future if there would be a way to  somehow
