What to do after Archivelog Mode

OS: Oracle Linux 7.6

DB: Oracle 12.2

Question:  My test DB is currently in No Archivelog mode, I know how to change it to Archivelog mode.  I have following questions, any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

    1 - What do I need to do after I change the DB to Archivelog mode?
     2-  Do I need to start the backups?

    3- How do I ensure that I don't keep more than 24 hours(1 day) of archivelogs and backups.
