Item specific conversion

Question regarding Item specific conversion Is there a best practice or recommendation to store item specific conversions like example Square feet to foot Square meters to meters which actually depend on the item dimensions and no standard formula for conversion. We are planning to use this conversion in some of the customer facing documents Please share if anyone is using such conversions Thanks
