Any lessons learned in performing Oracle11g Data Guard: Database Rolling Upgrade Shell Script (Doc I

I have ran into several issues, mainly with logical standby speed and connectivity especially for db_domain being set.

Has anyone had success in peforrming Oracle11g Data Guard: Database Rolling Upgrade Shell Script (Doc ID 949322.1) physru_v3.sh in Production?

If so, could you please share as we are trying to get databases upgraded from 11g to 12c as quickly as possible with very little downtime.
