HCM tools upgrade 8.55 to 8.56 (mid pay cycle)

We are looking at upgrading our tools for HR mid pay cycle.   The paysheets would have been run on 8.55 - then we upgrade to 8.56 - cobols recompiled under 8.56 - then Payroll completes pay cycle.

Does anyone know if this is supported or wise?
