Grid and Oracle login issue during installation

I am a novice please bear with me. I am trying to install oracle database 12.2.0.1.190716 restart server on Solaris 11.3 run on Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager 6.0. After setting up the following the users grid and oracle will not login.

projmod -sK "process.max-file-descriptor=(basic,1024,deny)" group.oinstall

projmod -sK "process.max-stack-size=(basic,10240,deny)" group.oinstall

Even trying to su - grid or doing su - oracle from an already running root session does not happen.  I am doing the following, pkg checks and installing the needed ones, then create the groups, users and set the shared memory parameters. At this point I can still login as either grid or oracle but as soon as I put the above setting then both users fail to login.
